Discover

A class designed for any adult in a new relationship with Jesus or new to attending church who
wonders “Now what?”

Meet and connect with others in a more personal setting than a weekend service while exploring what’s next for your spiritual journey. Together, we will look at first steps and next steps like Bible
reading, prayer, and worship – and we’ll also learn about opportunities to volunteer and join a small group.

Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m., twice monthly, at our Cloverville campus, and open to any adult from either campus. Conversation-based and relationship-focused; everyone who attends will enjoy a
place to belong.

Registration required so we can set a chair for you and receive the meeting schedule. Note: You will see the session dates when you click the Register Now.

Q&A

Who should attend Discover?
Discover is the next step for any adult from Port City Church who has made a new decision to
follow Jesus – or any adult who is new to attending church. For both, Discover will provide a
place for them to immediately belong, learn basics about Christianity, and determine where their faith
journey will take them next. Discover is open to any adult from either of our campuses –
Cloverville or McGraft.

What will happen at Discover?
Any adult who attends will feel welcomed into a community of people on a similar journey.
Meeting people, learning about the Bible and prayer, discussing questions designed for group
conversation, and eating snacks will happen every time we meet. Prepare to learn, grow, and build
relationships.

What topics will be discussed at Discover?
Bible reading, prayer basics, Jesus as a person, and other faith elements. Following very brief
information about these topics (and others), group discussion will take place. Attendees will receive
all materials needed for Discover.

When do classes take place?
Discover will happen two Tuesdays every month at 7 p.m. Every session is open for new people to join, so there’s no reason to wait. Registration is required, so the team can appropriately plan seats, supplies, and snacks.
Note: After registering, you will receive an email with the session dates.

Can people in existing small groups attend?
Discover’s primary purpose is to provide a place to belong for adults new to following Jesus or new to attending church. For that reason, people who already experience community should not attend Discover and, instead, explore their next steps with others in their small group.

Who leads Discover?
Pastor David and Becky Staal, along with Jordan and Amy Devries.

Other details?
Discover will take place in the lobby as long as attendance allows. No childcare or access to the play
area. Yes to snacks. Design for meetings will target one hour duration, knowing that conversations
could push the end time to 90 minutes. Attendees will receive a Bible and a journal/notebook, weekly
handouts, encouragement, hospitality, and a place to belong.
